A Weekly Column on the Force, Life, and Everything In Between
Dear Luke,
I have a boss who micromanages everything. It’s like they don’t trust me to do my job. I’m trying to be patient, but it’s really frustrating. How do I deal with this?
— Overwhelmed in Ord Mantell
Dear Overwhelmed,
Sounds like your boss might be channeling their inner Emperor Palpatine—always watching, always controlling. I get it. When I was training under Yoda, I felt like he was constantly testing me. But here’s the thing: sometimes, people micromanage because they fear losing control. Try talking to them, proving you can handle things without their constant oversight. If that doesn’t work, try what I do when dealing with stubborn people—nod, say, “Yes, Master,” and then quietly do things your own way. (Just… you know, without turning to the dark side.)
May patience be your ally,
— Luke
Dear Luke,
I’m dealing with a heartbreak. Someone I cared about left me, and I don’t know how to move on. How do I stop feeling like a broken droid?
— Sad on Scarif
Dear Sad on Scarif,
Ah, heartbreak—the Sith Lord of emotions. Trust me, I’ve been there. Once upon a time, I had feelings for someone, and then I found out she was… well, let’s just say it was complicated. (Lesson learned: always check the family tree first.) The point is, pain is part of the journey. You might not see it now, but this loss will shape you into someone stronger. Take time to heal, surround yourself with people who lift you up, and remember—there’s always another adventure waiting. Maybe even on a nice, twin-sunned beach planet.
May your heart find peace,
— Luke
Dear Luke,
I want to be a leader, but I don’t think people take me seriously. How do I prove I have what it takes?
— Aspiring Rebel
Dear Aspiring Rebel,
Leadership isn’t about waving a lightsaber around and hoping people listen (though, admittedly, that does get attention). It’s about action. When I first joined the Rebellion, I was just some farm kid with big dreams. Nobody handed me authority—I had to earn it. The best way to gain respect is to lead by example. Be consistent, be courageous, and don’t be afraid to make tough calls. Oh, and if all else fails, try saying something cryptic like, “I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me.” People eat that stuff up.
May the Force guide your leadership,
— Luke
That’s it for this week! Got questions? Need a Jedi’s perspective? Send them in via holocomm, droid messenger, or carve them into a tree on Dagobah. (Just kidding. Yoda wouldn’t like that.)
Until next time—stay strong, stay hopeful, and may the Force be with you!
